Most Surrey families come to French for one of three reasons: a child is required to take Core French in Grades 5 to 8 and has quietly fallen behind, a student in one of Surrey's French Immersion streams is struggling to keep pace in a classroom taught entirely in French, or an adult wants to actually speak the language rather than only recognise it on a page.
Our French classes are built around which of those you are. Lessons run online for families across Guildford, Fleetwood, Cloverdale, Newton and South Surrey, either one-on-one or in a small group, with speaking practice in every single session — because the part most learners are missing is not vocabulary, it is the confidence to use it out loud.
French Immersion is demanding in a way that is easy to miss from the outside: a student is not only learning French, they are learning math, science and social studies through it. When their French slips, every other subject slips with it — and because the classroom runs in French, there is rarely time to stop and re-teach the basics.
We work on the underlying language so the rest of the timetable becomes accessible again, whether that means rebuilding verb conjugation from the ground up or rehearsing an oral presentation until it feels natural. For Core French students, the goal is usually simpler: understand what the teacher is asking, finish the assignments without dread, and stop losing easy marks on grammar.
Adult learners in Surrey usually arrive with a specific reason — an upcoming trip, family in Quebec or France, a bilingual requirement at work, or a long-standing intention to finally learn the language properly. Some are starting from nothing; others studied French years ago and want to rebuild what has faded.
Adult sessions are conversation-led and paced to you, with grammar introduced as it becomes useful rather than as a syllabus to march through. Evening and flexible scheduling makes it workable around a job.

The best way to know whether our teaching style is right for your child is to experience it directly.
Have questions? We've answered the most common questions students and parents ask before enrolling.
Both. We teach complete beginners — children and adults alike — as well as students following the BC school curriculum. Absolute beginners start with pronunciation and high-frequency everyday phrases, so you are speaking from the first lesson rather than memorising rules first.
Yes, and it is one of the most common requests we get. Immersion students are learning other subjects through French, so a gap in the language quietly becomes a gap in math or social studies too. We rebuild the underlying French so the rest of the classroom becomes accessible again.
Both are available. One-on-one suits students with specific gaps or exam deadlines, while small groups suit learners who want regular conversation practice with others at a similar level. We can advise which fits after the free consultation.
Surrey families are served online, which keeps scheduling flexible and removes the drive across the city. In-person sessions are available at our Burnaby location if you would prefer to attend on site.
Yes. Plenty of students book short, targeted blocks ahead of an oral assessment, a written exam or a French proficiency test rather than committing to ongoing weekly lessons.
