Physics 11 is the year the strategy changes. In earlier science, recognising the question type was usually enough to find the right formula. Physics 11 starts describing situations and expects you to work out which principle applies — and that is a different skill, one nobody explicitly teaches.
We work with students from Lord Byng, Prince of Wales, Eric Hamber and schools across Kitsilano, Dunbar and the East Side. Sessions run online anywhere in Vancouver, or in person at our Burnaby centre, a straightforward SkyTrain trip for most families.
Physics 12 does not revisit the fundamentals — it assumes them. Students who arrive able to draw a free-body diagram without thinking find Physics 12 demanding but fair. Students carrying gaps find it relentless, because every new topic taxes the thing they never quite got.
That is why we spend Physics 11 building method rather than answers: read the situation, draw it, name the principle, then calculate. It feels slower for a fortnight and pays off for two years.

This is the single most common pattern we see, and it is not a sign of falling behind. Science 10 largely rewards recall; Physics 11 rewards choosing the right principle for an unfamiliar situation. It is a genuinely new skill, and most students need it taught explicitly rather than absorbed.
Yes — it keeps the door open. Physics 12 is a prerequisite for many engineering and science programs, and it is far harder to add later than to carry forward. A solid Physics 11 preserves the option cheaply.
